Update: an important change to the Scottish convoy appeal

In November, a solidarity convoy of Ukraine supporters from most European countries will travel across Europe to Kyiv. The convoy’s purpose is to transport purely humanitarian aid. There will be three routes: a southern route from Barcelona, a northern route from Oslo, and a central route from Edinburgh, Dublin and London via Brussels. Our aim is to show that the Ukrainian people have the support of trade unions and civil society across Europe.

The Scottish convoy’s initial target was to supply an ambulance to a civil society organisation providing humanitarian support in an area of urgent need (i.e. a front-line area of Ukraine). This has changed. These zones are now accessible only to the military because of drone activity. Ambulances are regular targets. The fundraising appeal has been changed to reflect our new aim of supplying a minibus to Ukraine’s Trade Union of Education and Scientific Workers (TUESWU).
